A leisure centre in Greenford is to be redeveloped.

Ealing Council is holding a series of consultation events over plans for a £37 million redevelopment of Gurnell Leisure Centre.

The council is proposing to replace the centre with a new building featuring a 10-lane 50 m pool, a leisure pool with viewing areas, a fitness gym, two activity spaces, a spin bike studio, a sauna, children’s play areas, changing facilities and a cafe.

The first consultation event was held on 19 May; the second is planned for 14 July at 6.30pm at Hathaway Primary School in Hathaway Gardens.

If plans are approved, the existing leisure centre, which opened in 1981, would close in spring 2017 and the new facility is scheduled to open in January 2019.
