Progress on Broadway development plans

Plans for the redevelopment of 9-42 The Broadway, opposite Ealing Broadway station, received a boost between February and March 2016 as both the council and the Mayor of London gave approval.

Site owner Bension Elliot and developer Londonewcastle are proposing 188 homes, basement parking with 50 car spaces, around 20 new shops, 550sq m of flexible space earmarked for a boutique cinema and to build a 460sq m music venue.

They would be located in a series of buildings ranging from two to 18 storeys.

The scheme would be developed around a new pedestrian route between Ealing Broadway Station and The Broadway, which will be called Haven Place.

A planning application was submitted in July 2015. After consultation with the council, the Greater London Authority and Historic England, proposals were amended to retain the building at 9 The Broadway and the facades of the more historic structures along the road (at 14, 15 and 16).

Plans were approved by the planning committee on 24 February, and the green light was given by the mayor and the GLA the following month.

Unless the plan is called in by the secretary of state for determination, work can now begin.
